7 Prayers That Work

Jehovah Rapha, Heal my body and my soul. Protect me from disease and illness but use everything that you allow into my life to direct my heart towards you. I trust you and depend on you. Let me not be  afraid  of what happens to me and what I'm afraid will happen. You have my present and my future . I will follow you. Lord, heal my mind and my heart. Protect me from poisonous thoughts and beliefs. Root out my fear and my faithlessness. Heal me in every way, even the painful places like grief and insecurity.  I give every part of me to you. Hey everyone, please pray for my husband Shane. He's in great shape, has a healthy heart and rides for a elite amateur biking team for exercise. Last night on a 40-mile group ride, he had a heart attack. He experienced chest pain and shortness of breath. That's it. He just had a good physical one month ago. Two years ago, his heart showed 0 blockage, although his blood pressure was a little elevated. God preserved him--because his chest was hurting, he slowly finished the ride & drove home. Our son Brent (in clinicals for PT) took his vitals; I gave him aspirin, and after a lot of persuading, I took him to the hospital. His 2 EKGs were good, but his blood showed cardio enzymes. So they called in the cardiologist, who immediately assembled a heart cath team at 1:00 am. They worked for 1.5 hours to ultimately find the blockage in his main artery and put in a stent. He said Shane's main artery was 95% blocked--that's the widow-maker artery. He probably would've die...

Dear God, You understand heartbreak.  You know what it is to lose a child to senseless violence . Lord, fall on us and blanket our misery! Bring vengeance on the perpetrators of injustice. This latest act of violence against a child sickens and saddens me. No parent should lose a child because someone else's child is angry, confused, or traumatized. Or just a sinner, committing a sin. And now another child has died. Sometimes the killed child is an unborn baby. Sometimes it's a neglected child. Sometimes it's a teenager, caught up in drugs or theft  or just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Sometimes a child's death is caused by someone's trauma , someone's desperation, someone's mental illness someone's cruelty. It's shocking what we humans are capable of doing. It's all so horrible, and I know it grieves you. You desire hope, healing, peace, love, forgiveness, restitution, belonging. May my heart always break when your heart break...

Dear Lord, You are not worried. You are not uninterested. You still wrap your hands around your children and draw us close, even when events seem to say otherwise. Give us peace, comfort, and healing during this time of physical and emotional unrest. Heal those affected by the virus. Multiply the time, effort, and supplies of those in the healthcare industry. I pray that people will safeguard themselves, respect others, and be patient with all the turbulence and unrest caused by a pandemic. I pray for all who worry and suffer to search for you while you can be found. Lord, may we be found by you. You are good, you are merciful, you are gracious, you are forgiving, and you are healing. Dear Father-Healer, Pour out your mercy, grace, comfort, and miraculous healing over this child who is sick. Death and harm are horrible thoughts and horrible possibilities. Except for you. Except for your power and your perfect will. Help me to believe in your goodness and love. Why must bad things happen to good people? Why is the world so full of heartache and grief? Why do you seem to withdraw when grief overwhelms us like an angry ocean? And most of all--why must terrible things happen to the most innocent of all-- to the unborn, the children, the young, the sweet and kind ones among us? Illness is heart-wrenching for families of children who suffer-- it's unfair, tramatizing, terrifying, heart-breaking. You can heal anyone and anything, so why don't you always do it? Holy Spirit, Give me the faith to pray big prayers. I want to experience you working miracles, healing my emotions, transforming my mind, softening my heart, directing my destiny. Give me courage to fight for others instead of against others. I want to see you reconciling races, restoring relationships, reuniting families, bringing closure, healing wounds, saving souls. Give me the confidence to believe your timing is perfect. I want peace while believing in a future, accepting disappointment, striving for faith, enduring hardship, conquering temptation. Give me You. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father, Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals -- Please protect and heal my loved one today. You created him, You love him, You have a purpose for him. It is Your nature to heal, restore, and renew. Please grant healing and restoration to him today so he can continue the calling You've given him. I trust You, and I trust Your will. I give You control (because You already have it), and I will show that by giving You myself and my worries. Rapha, Healer, You make all things new and beautiful. Jehovah-Rapha, the God of healing-- We ask for your power of love and hope to reign down on France, particularly the families traumatized by Friday's terrorist attack. We know you will bring good from this tragedy, although it's hard to see how. Inspire the Christians in Paris show the love of Jesus to their hurting city. I pray for the world to show support and fraternity to France, to lend aid, and to share the love of God. May this tragedy also draw all of us into closer relationship with You.
