7 Prayers That Work

When you experience trauma and grief, you feel hopeless. The future is frightening. But God's promises are powerful.  Pray this prayer, based on Isaiah's prophecies in Isaiah 49 :  God of heaven, You declare great things over me-- help me to believe them! You say, "You have formed me and designed me for your purpose. No matter what I've done,  no thing is too hard for you to redeem ." You say, "You who are overlooked and hated, some day, you will be noticed and accepted. The Lord is faithful ." You say, "In good times, I will pour out my blessing on you; I will covenant to you to set you free from darkness. You will find sustenance on every hill. You will not hunger or thirst. I will make roads for you where there are none. My compassion will lead you." Shout for joy! The Lord remembers his people; he will comfort me in distress. Well, Lord, What's next? I don't understand what's going on. I have trouble hoping, praying , and believing when I can't predict the future. I think you might like it that way, because whenever you told the Israelites what would happen, they didn't believe you. And when you said "Follow me," they questioned everything you did. They had a trust problem. And so do I. Why don't I trust you more? You've proven your love by dying for me. You've verified your love by always meeting my needs. You've reminded me of your power by rescuing me,  even from my own messes. What's next?  What are you doing? You are setting up things for your glory and for my good. You are wooing souls, convicting hearts, forgiving sins. Your mercies never fail. You will never leave us alone . These are your promises. And I believe them, even when I can't figure anything out. Lord God, I want to lose myself in you. May there no longer be a me, who struggles for a place in this world. Let me only be a representation of you, a mirror of you, an ambassador for you. You are my God, and I worship you. You are my God, and I serve you. You are my God, and I hear you. You are my God, and I trust you. You are my God, and I follow you.
